Everest Sky Dive
UK FEMALE SKYDIVER IN RECORD-SETTING EVEREST STUNT RAISES PROCEEDS FOR HIMALYAN TRUST
Daredevil skydiver Holly Budge is aiming for the record books with a pioneering jump over Mount Everest in October 2008. The 29-year-old adventure sports enthusiast looks set to become the first woman to jump level with the summit of Everest in a challenge that will test her endurance to the limit and raise thousands for charity.
With a parachute three times the normal size, a skydiving oxygen system and purpose-made thermal headgear, Holly will jump solo from 29,500ft, freefalling at 180mph, 60mph faster than in normal conditions. She will land on the world's highest drop zone at 12,350ft - the level she would usually jump from.
The creator of the jump, mountaineer, skydiver and adventure logistician Nigel Gifford, OBE, says the challenge pushes the boundaries by combining two harsh environments of high altitude and extreme cold. Holly will be joined by 23 co-jumpers, including Gifford and Andy Elson, Aeronaut and Cosmonaut - who in 1991 was the first balloonist to fly over Mount Everest.
If you are interested in offering sponsorship, equipment or other support to Holly's charity Everest jump, please contact her on +44 (0)7770 507686 or email: holly@hollybudge.com

A Test above the rest? ... the 2009 Everest Cricket expedition
In April 2009 a group of enthusiastic young English cricketers plan to play a game of cricket on the Gorak Shep plateau, the last trekking stage before Kala Pattar and Everest Base Camp. The game itself will be recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest 11 a side game of cricket ever played. The event will be used to raise a large amount of money for two charities: 30% for The Himalayan Trust UK, for the benefit of the local Sherpa community, and 70% to Comic Relief for International efforts to relieve world poverty.
